Ken’s career in risk management has spanned 25 years, working with risk sensitive organizations of every variety. Before founding Risk Resources and ConceptONE he was Chief Risk Officer and on the Executive Committees at Cheyne Capital, Tudor Investments, and SAC Capital, where he also served for a time as the firm's the Chief Investment Strategist. Prior to these assignments, Ken was the Head of Risk Management in Treasury and Capital Markets at Societe General, NA.
Ken began his career in the futures markets, among other things forming and managing at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Risk Department, and leading the global implementation effort for the SPAN margin system, a pioneering risk-based collateralization framework that remains the global standard for exchange-traded derivatives.
He is a published author and has written for many industry groups. Publications include "Trading Risk: Enhanced Profitability through Risk Control" (Wiley,/2004); The Manage Funds Association's "Sound Practices for Hedge Fund Managers (2000-03-05)", and the risk management curriculum for CFA Institute. He served multiple terms on the MFA's Executive Committee and is a standing member of the CME's Clearing House Risk Committee.
Ken holds an M.A. in Economics from Columbia University, an M.B.A. In Finance from the University of Chicago, and a B.S. in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Wisconsin.
